The assessment
The assessment is centered on aging in place. We document observable concerns, discuss practical priorities and identify where a licensed, clinical or specialized professional may be needed.
Walking paths, flooring, stairs, bathrooms, railings, lighting and other conditions that may affect safe movement through the home.
Doors, windows, locks, exterior visibility, access practices and security technology that may help the older adult feel safer at home.
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, escape considerations, emergency contacts, lighting and other preparedness needs.
Ease of use, household routines, maintenance concerns, technology needs and tasks that may be included in recurring visits.

Home Safe Advisor is an independent private company. We can help families organize needs, identify possible resources and coordinate next steps. We do not represent Baltimore County, determine program eligibility or guarantee funding, approval or service availability.
Separate immediate safety concerns, routine household needs, licensed repair work, accessibility improvements and issues that may require clinical guidance.
For Baltimore County households, possible starting points may include Maryland Access Point, the BCAUSE program and other public or nonprofit home-support resources.
When the need is outside our scope, we can help the family identify questions to ask a licensed contractor, occupational therapist, home-care provider or other qualified professional.

Eligibility, services, funding, wait times and final decisions are controlled by each public or nonprofit organization. Families may contact those organizations directly at no cost.
